
Three Lives of Over-the-Rhine
The installation was designed after meeting with representatives from the Over-the-Rhine museum.
I wanted to highlight three key periods in Over-the-Rhine’s history: during the 1800s when 40,000 people lived in the square mile and German was the dominant language; the mid-to-late 20th century when the area’s population was mostly blue-collar, it was seen as a place of decay, yet it was home to many families and had its own culture; and today, when it is one of the most sought-after districts in the city.
The piece is created from eight individual woodcuts.
