About

Some art stops you. Not because it's trying to, but because something in it already belongs to you. A shape you recognize, a character that feels like it came from somewhere real, a reference to a place you know. That's the feeling this work is chasing.

My work starts with looking. At a place's symbols, its history, the icons it has built its identity around, and sometimes let slip. Spray-painted woodcuts, paintings, and sculptures, all made by hand, all rooted in the process of showing up somewhere and paying close attention. The work is character-driven and immediate. Its purpose is to make you smile.

Many of the people who take a piece home grew up somewhere in the Midwest or feel a deep pull to it. They grew up with art on walls that wasn't in a frame, in books that weren't considered literature, on screens that weren't considered serious. They have good eyes and know what they like. These pieces tend to live well in real spaces, on brick walls, above a record collection, in a hallway that needed something with a little weight to it.

If something here catches your eye, reach out, even if it’s just to say hello. I read and respond to every email. There's no pressure and no pretension. Just handmade things, looking for the right walls. And maybe you have a wall looking for the right artist?
