Jim Tucker X The Marketer Collaborative

The Marketer Collaborative is a coworking and creative workspace in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine built by and for marketing professionals, designed to foster collaboration, community, and breakthrough work in a vibrant historic setting.

The marketer commissioned me to create a mural for their first floor that celebrated the beautiful mess that is the creative process

Round1: Initial sketches

I began with two sketches that celebrated the successful brands and iconic cityscape of Cincinnati, using the Marketer’s distinctive color palette.

Round 2

The client wanted to pursue one more concept about the messiness of being a creative professional.

Round 3

In the end, we decided to pursue a design that celebrated icons of Cincinnati without the risk of intellectual property that was in the previous design, and put those characters in the context of working as creative professionals

The final design:

A lion representing FC Cincinnati and the space’s logo, real world Rosie Red, Mr. Porkopolis, and my favorite, Ol’ Coney Head. In the middle, Minerava, for the city’s Roman association, a deity of creativity, & then a ton of characters representing a creative professional’s life.

Who’s your favorite?
